Chapter 338: Am I the Prophet Myself?!
Combined with the moonlight and the gentle snow drifting on the breeze, the scene crated an unexpectedly beautiful sight.
The Light of Evolution?!
Qiao Sang froze, staring dumbfounded at the white light above her.
She had witnessed several pet evolutions before and was well aware of what this light signified.
But this couldn’t be happening!
She hadn’t allocated any points to Yabao recently. According to the level progression detailed in the Beast Tamer Codex, Yabao shouldn’t be evolving for quite a while!
Why was this happening out of the blue?
Qiao Sang felt an urge to dive into the Beast Tamer Codex right then and there to figure out what was going on.But she couldn’t.
Instead, she focused her wary gaze on the man before her and his three general-level pets. If he attacked now and something went wrong with Yabao’s evolution, she’d be devastated.
“Lubao!” She called out firmly.
“Lu!”
Lubao leapt down from Yabao, crouching low and assuming a battle-ready stance in the face of the three formidable beasts.
Though small in size, Lubao exuded an intimidating aura, showing not a shred of fear.
Yet, the expected attack never came.
Qiao Sang kept her eyes locked on the man, noticing that he had yet to make a move.
In reality, only a few seconds had passed, but her heightened nerves made every moment feel excruciatingly long.
It really evolved... Zhang Rongtang’s mouth gaped open as he stared blankly at the blinding white light.
A mid-tier pet evolving into a high-tier one wasn’t uncommon, it shouldn’t have left him so visibly shaken.
But considering the other factors, it was nothing short of astonishing.
The only known Flame Hound in the world.
The existence of a new evolutionary path for Fire Fang Dogs had only been reported a month ago!
And its tamer?
A mere high schooler!
Underage, a green-star summoner with three pets, all of them extraordinary. Particularly this Flame Hound, now evolved to high-tier status.
What kind of monster is this kid?!
When he was her age, all he had was a low-tier and a mid-tier pet!
To be honest, Zhang Rongtang now hesitated to act.
Interrupting the evolution of the world’s only Flame Hound would surely provoke a global outcry.
And harming this prodigious teenager? The consequences would be unthinkable.
How did Wu Chang even meet such an insane kid?
Yet abandoning his goal of acquiring Luckbringer was simply not an option.
Countless thoughts raced through Zhang Rongtang’s mind.
Steeling himself, he gave a discreet signal to his Phantom Fiend.
Years of partnership had honed their understanding. Without hesitation, the Fiend vanished from sight.
The disappearance immediately heightened Qiao Sang’s tension.
Just then, the white light overhead faded.
Yabao’s evolution is complete?!
Qiao Sang’s heart soared with joy.
Instinctively, she looked up, only to lock eyes with a pair of eerie purple pupils.
“Hu.”
The grinning Phantom Fiend, drooling as it activated Hypnosis, loomed before her.
Damn it! This trick again?! Qiao Sang struggled to turn her head, but even moving an inch seemed impossible.
In her blurred vision, she noticed Tablema’s glowing blue eyes fixed on her.
Great, now two general-level pets are ganging up on me. How shameless...
This was Qiao Sang’s last muddled thought before she blacked out.
The next second, a blast of water hit her face, snapping her back to consciousness.
The familiar sensation was all too irritating.
She glanced down at Lubao, ready to compliment her on her good aim, only to see her still spraying water directly at the Phantom Fiend.
Qiao Sang: ?!
The fiend didn’t even flinch, merely looking amused. It extended a paw toward the diminutive pet, unfazed by Lubao’s relentless Water Gun, Icy Wind, and Water Tail attacks. Å
“Lu!”
Frustration etched on her face, Lubao prepared another assault when suddenly, the fiend’s paw froze mid-motion. Even the drool dripping from its maw seemed to suspend in midair.
Then, it was hurled sideways with incredible force.
Both Qiao Sang and Lubao turned their eyes upward.
The dissipating white light revealed a magnificent creature: His blue-glowing eyes framed by crimson streaks, gleaming fangs, and a three-meter body predominantly white with a luxuriously long, fluffy tail. A fiery red stripe ran from his nose to the back of his head, and small flaming wings adorned his shoulders, lending an air of both grandeur and mystery.
Qiao Sang’s eyes sparkled.
What a stunning sight!
Sensing his tamer’s gaze, Yabao looked down, his eyes shifting back to their original crimson hue.
Qiao Sang’s face changed abruptly as the transparent container holding Luckbringer was suddenly wrenched away by an immense force.
“Yabao!” She shouted.
“Yap!”
Leaping down, Yabao stomped the ground with tremendous force. Flames erupted violently from the fractured earth, creating waves of scorching heat.
“Yap?”
The display left Yabao stunned.
Am I really this strong?
Tablema, who had been using telekinesis on the container, had to abandon its attempt and teleport into the air.
The container plummeted toward the ground, only to be snatched midair by the Stronghold Sky Owl.
“No more wasting time. Goodbye!” Zhang Rongtang declared, clutching the container atop his pet.
To his surprise, Yabao not only evolved but also unleashed a high-tier skill immediately a rare feat.
Realizing further delay could lead to the police arriving, he looked back at the enraged girl below with mixed emotions.
A high schooler who could stall me this long? There’s only one like her.
“Yun Yun!”
Luckbringer thrashed against its confines.
“Stop struggling. She won’t catch up.” Zhang Rongtang said calmly.
“Chase!”
Qiao Sang hoisted Lubao onto Yabao’s back.
With a powerful leap, Yabao took to the skies.
“Tablema.”
The psychic pet materialized before them, blocking their path.
Damn it!
Qiao Sang instantly realized his plan: Stall her with Tablema while his owl flew away.
Fury burned in her eyes as she watched Zhang Rongtang disappear into the distance.
If only that owl would suddenly cramp up and fall...
The thought barely crossed her mind when the Stronghold Sky Owl abruptly nosedived.
Qiao Sang: ?!
Am I really the prophet?!
Wait! Wasn’t something else falling?
Squinting, she made out the tumbling figure. Her heart skipped a beat.
No way! Is that Little Treasure?!
“Xun…”
