Chapter 110 Effect
Although Ethan was having a hard time carrying that massive corpse, he only allowed himself to put twenty points into strength. As of late, he was revealing quite a bit of information about his powers to others. Still, he didn\'t want to give the specifications about every single thing. Despite that, Emily noticed that he suddenly got a lot more powerful, so Ethan decided to use those points slowly instead of saving them since that look of surprise, and shock was somewhat annoying.

Still, even though it had been very tiresome, carrying the corpse had been a good exercise. Ethan managed to level up his Vigor two times just while he was running back toward the camp.
"It would be weird if I suddenly become capable of destroying their carapaces… so I guess I will allocate some points to speed. Adding that to the effect of my sword, the fights against those beasts will be less troublesome."
Although Ethan had a few reasons to be cautious, he thought it was a waste of time in the end. If someone tries to mess with him after measuring his power to a certain point, that would be great, actually. Because Ethan wouldn\'t have to worry about hunting those low lives, the low-lives would show themselves to him.
In any case, just as Ethan had imagined, the camp was in an uproar. The devourers attacked the other groups, and some mercenaries got injured. They managed to escape and avoid deaths thanks to Ian and Ethan\'s crossbows. Still, that was quite impressive. Although all that fighting was making Ethan\'s body fitter, he was still a pretty slim teenager. Thanks to it, the mercenaries frowned when they saw him carrying a monster that probably weighed more than five tons.
"It looks like you brought dinner," Ian said. "I can\'t say that this meat looks appetizing."
That was the first thing he said… Still, Ethan knew that he was being monitored by Ivan and Ian, so they knew from the very beginning that when the fight broke out, Ethan and Emily killed the beasts without much problem. Regardless, with his Telekinesis ring, Ian moved the beast to a table, and then he analyzed the body of the monster with some sort of device that could read the mana waves inside bodies. That object was usually used to identify the effects of magic items. Still, it also could be used like that since Appraisal doesn\'t work on dead creatures.
"I see. This might be a bit bad," Ian frowned.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "Say the results out loud," Ivan said.
"With this analysis, we confirmed what we already knew and some other things," Ian said. "For example, they can really cover their bodies with mana and mix with the shadows. That is fine and all, but… the age of this creature is kind of weird."
"Age?" Ethan frowned.
"Yep, you see, the younger someone is, the purer their mana is," Ian said. "That also applies to monsters because mana is controlled by the mind, and the stronger your mind, the strong the mana. However, pure mana can be easily converted into all kinds of things and…"
"Just go straight to the point," Anna said, a bit annoyed."
"Putting in simple words, the monster was born a few weeks ago. That is what this device is saying based on the purity of the mana that still is inside the body," Ian said. "We just learned that not only they can reproduce fast, but the devourers can also grow fast."
Ethan looked toward Maerys, but she just shook her head. She didn\'t know of that. It was already evident that the devourers were building their forces to invade Earth. Even though the people there weren\'t that strong, they were sapient beings, and that seemed to be what they liked to eat the most.
"I saw a weird symbol over the devourers\' camp," Emily suddenly said. "I don\'t know, but… maybe that symbol had something to do with all of this."
Emily told everyone that those burned marks had formed a whirlpool-like symbol. However, no one recognized that pattern. As if that wasn\'t weird enough, Maerys and her people had never heard of magic that could be used by making use of such a thing. Anna and Ian also seemed pretty knowledgeable in the subject, but they just shrugged.
"I guess that is irrelevant, then," Emily said.
"You can\'t just decide that," Ethan said. "Just because you don\'t understand something, it doesn\'t mean that such a thing is useless or irrelevant."
Ethan didn\'t mention that since such a possibility would only make everyone more than they already should, but what if that symbol was part of a magic system from another world? If that was true, then there was a third party involved. Still, considering that such a possibility would only raise even more questions, it was only obvious that Ethan wouldn\'t mention it. Still, he had experienced something similar while he was helping Hannah. He found items identical to the ones he could obtain using his powers. Although that wasn\'t absurd, it was weird, given the circumstances.
"Before deciding anything, we will need to investigate more," Ivan declared. "I will go and take a look at those symbols from closer and see if the same thing can be found in the other bases. Until then, your orders are to wait for my results and prepare for battle. Those encounters revealed our existence to the enemy, and as such, they may attack us at any moment."
